Privacy policy

Last updated 31 July 2026.

This explains what we do with your information when you use pre-ski.com, take our course finder quiz, or buy a course. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Who we are

Pre-Ski is a trading name of Brand Growth Partners Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 15039059, registered office 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX. We are the data controller, which means we decide what happens to your information and we are responsible for it. Contact us at info@pre-ski.com.

The short version

We ask for an email address so we can send you your quiz result and, if you want them, useful updates. If you buy, we take the details needed to give you the course and keep our books straight. We do not sell your data to anyone, ever. You can ask us to delete it at any time.

The account belongs to the buyer

Most people who buy do the course themselves. Where a course is bought for a young person, the account still belongs to the adult who bought it, and that adult is our customer.

We hold no information about your child in the normal course of things. We never ask for their age or email address, and children do not have their own logins with us. The only details we keep are the buyer's, and one account covers one person.

There is one exception, and it only happens if you choose to make it happen. If you claim a refund under our guarantee, the claim form asks for a short exercise video, and that video may show your child. What we do with it is set out under refund claims below, and you can read it before you decide to claim.

A name is typed in once, at the very end, when the certificate is claimed. We use it to print the certificate, we email that certificate to the account address, and we do not keep it.

If you believe a child has sent us information directly, email info@pre-ski.com and we will delete it.

What we collect, and why

When you take the quiz. Your email address and your answers about your trip, your experience and your starting fitness. We use these to send your course recommendation and to point you at the right course. Our lawful basis is your consent, given when you enter your email.

When you buy. Your name, email address, billing address, what you bought, and any code you used at checkout, such as a school code, a group booking code or a discount code. Payment card details go straight to our payment providers and never reach us. Our lawful basis is performing our contract with you, and for our accounting records, our legal obligation.

When you claim your certificate. The name you want printed on it. We use it to make the certificate, we email the certificate to your account address, and we do not keep the name afterwards.

When you claim a refund. Your name, the email address you bought with, which course, the date you finished, your answers about what did not work, and a short video of one exercise being performed. We also look at your course progress on your own account, which we already hold. Our lawful basis is performing our contract with you, because the guarantee is part of what you bought.

We use all of it for one purpose only: deciding your claim and paying your refund. We never use a claim video for marketing, we never publish it, and we never show it to anyone outside the two people here who assess claims.

If the video shows a child, you are consenting on their behalf by uploading it, and you can withdraw that at any time by emailing us. Tell us and we delete the video immediately, though we may then need something else from you to settle the claim.

How long we keep a claim. The video is deleted within 30 days of the claim being closed, whichever way it goes. The record that a refund was made, and its amount, stays for six years because HMRC requires it. That record holds no video.

When you email us. Whatever you write, so we can reply.

When you visit the site. Anonymous page statistics: which pages were viewed, roughly where in the country the visit came from, and what device was used. This uses no cookies and does not identify you, which is why you have not been shown a cookie banner. We look at it to see which pages help people and which confuse them.

Marketing emails

If you opt in, we send occasional emails about ski preparation and PRE-SKI courses. Every one has an unsubscribe link and one click is enough. Buyers receive service emails about the course they bought regardless, because those are part of what you paid for.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted companies to run the business. They act on our instructions and cannot use your data for their own purposes.

  • Our checkout and course provider holds your purchase and your course access.
  • Our payment providers process payments. Card details go to them and never reach us.
  • Our email provider holds your email address and your quiz answers, and sends our emails.
  • Our automation provider passes information between these systems.
  • Our hosting provider runs the website and produces the anonymous visit statistics.
  • Our refund claim form provider receives a claim and its uploads, and holds them only until we have dealt with the claim.
  • Our enquiry form provider receives what you send on the trip and school enquiry forms, and holds it only until we have dealt with your enquiry.

We may also share information where the law requires it. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with advertisers.

Some of these companies are based outside the UK. Where that is the case, they are covered by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as approved contract terms.

Links to other shops

Some links on our gear and trip pages are affiliate links, which means we may earn a commission if you buy after clicking one. Those links are marked as advertisements on the page.

We set no tracking cookies ourselves and we run no advertising scripts on this site. When you click one of those links you leave our site, and the shop or the network it uses may set its own cookies on its own website, under its own cookie notice and its own privacy policy. Nothing about you is passed from us to them beyond the fact that the click came from our page.

Schools

Where a school promotes PRE-SKI, parents buy directly from us. The school does not pass us parent or pupil data, and we do not pass the school any personal information about who bought. If a school asks how take-up is going, we tell them how many pupils on the trip have signed up, and nothing beyond that.

How long we keep it

Quiz entries from people who never buy: 24 months, then deleted. That covers two ski seasons, so if you enquire one year and book the next, we still know what you needed.

Customer records: for as long as you have access to the course, then for six years after, because HMRC requires us to keep business records that long.

Marketing lists: until you unsubscribe, then we keep a note of your unsubscribe so we do not email you again by accident.

Refund claim uploads: the video is deleted within 30 days of the claim being closed. The accounting record of the refund stays six years, without it.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold, correct it, delete it, stop using it for marketing, or send it to you in a portable file. Email info@pre-ski.com and we will respond within one month, free of charge.

If you think we have handled your information badly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Keeping it safe

Our site runs over an encrypted connection. We hold no card details and no payment data. Access to customer information is limited to the people who need it to run PRE-SKI.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will say so by email to anyone on our list.
